 William Henry Harrison

-The President is the most extraordinary man I ever saw. he does not seem to realize the vast importance of his elevation. He is as tickled with the Presidency as is a young woman with a new bonnet
-
Martin van Buren 1841

-
I have not seen old "Tip", but all represent him as merry as a cricket, careless of the future, garrulous in the display of obscene stories, thoroughly intent with the spirit of lecherey
-
William L. Marcy, 1841

- It is almost distressing to see Harrison. He is now in his 69th year, with the full share of infirmity belonging to that age, and very little of even the physical strength necessary to encounter the heavy responsibility belonging to his station. Yet, as unconscious as a child of his difficulties and thos of the country. He seem to enjoy his elevation as a mere affair of personal vanity.
-
John C. Calhoun, 1841

Harrison's last words was:
-
Sir, I wish you to understand the principles of the Government. I wish them carried out. I ask nothing more.
